§ 8-1. Pool rooms.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person who is working in or operating a pool room, to allow any person under the age of 18 years to enter a pool room.

    (b)

    All public pool rooms in the city shall remain closed between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. each night in every week.

    (c)

    There shall be no gambling in any pool room or on the premises of any pool room in the city.

    (d)

    No window shall be painted, no curtains or blinds erected, or the view through the windows obstructed in any manner in any pool room in the city.

    (e)

    It shall be unlawful to allow any person who has been convicted of a violation of any liquor, narcotic or lottery law, either state or federal, to work or loiter in any pool room in the city.

    (f)

    No license to operate a pool room shall be issued to any person who has been convicted of a violation of any liquor, narcotic or lottery law, state or federal, or of any felony. It shall be the duty of the chief of police to check the record of each person who applies for a license to operate a pool room, and all licenses shall be granted by the city council.

    (g)

    No license to operate a pool room shall be issued except in the name of the owner of the pool room, and no pool room license shall be transferable.

    (h)

    It shall be the duty of the owner of any pool room to observe, and to cause all of his agents or employees to observe, all provisions of the pool room ordinance and its amendments. Upon proof of violation of any of the provisions of the pool room ordinance or its amendments, by any operator, or his agent or employee, the license may be revoked by the city council.
