§ 39-1. Purpose.

This chapter is adopted to promote the health, safety and welfare of the citizens, to decrease potentially dangerous distractions to drivers and obstructions on sidewalks and other public facilities, to reduce the likelihood of motor vehicle-pedestrian collisions and collisions between motor vehicles, and to promote business activity. Statutory authority can be found in Chapter 106A and Section 20-175 of the North Carolina General Statutes.
