§ 2-111. Appointment; duties.
The council shall appoint a clerk, who shall be secretary to the council, to serve at the pleasure of the council and receive such compensation as is fixed by the council. The clerk shall attend all meetings of the council and shall keep a true and accurate record of all business transacted by the council. Such records shall be recorded in the minute book and shall be known as the official minutes of the council. The clerk shall perform any and all other duties as may be required by the council. The clerk shall be the custodian of all of the documents, books or records of the city and shall keep and preserve such property. It shall also be the duty of the clerk to keep a record of all ordinances and resolutions, separate and apart from the regular minutes.
