§ 2-91. Appointment; duties.

  • The council shall appoint a city attorney whose duty shall be to prosecute suits or defend suits brought against the city; to advise the mayor and the council and any other office or department of the city in regard to any matter connected with city business; and the attorney shall file his opinion in writing upon any matter when required to do so by the council; and the attorney shall attend the meetings of the council when requested to do so and perform any and all legal services as are required by the council. The city attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the council.
