§ 24-214. Fishing.

  • The following provisions apply to fishing in the Graham-Mebane Lake:

    (1)

    Persons using the lake for the purpose of fishing shall comply with the provisions of this section.

    (2)

    No person shall fish in the Graham-Mebane Lake except by proper permit approved and issued to such person by the lake warden or his authorized agent. All regulations by the state wildlife resources commission with regard to licenses, manner of taking fish and the size and number of fish to be taken, are a part of these regulations. This article is subject to any state requirements that may be in conflict herewith.

    (3)

    No permit shall be valid for use by any person other than the person to whom the permit was issued. All permits not used on the date issued shall be void.

    (4)

    Every permit required by this article shall be issued subject to revocation or cancellation upon violations by the holder thereof of any of the rules or regulations governing fishing in the lake.

    (5)

    No permit shall be issued under this article to any person who has knowingly violated the rules and regulations governing fishing in the lake.

    (6)

    Fish may be taken in the lake only with rod, line and hooks with natural bait or ties with artificial flies, spoons, plugs or artificial minnows.

    (7)

    No fish caught in the lake shall be sold, bartered or exchanged.

    (8)

    At the conclusion of a day's fishing at the lake each person shall submit his catch to the inspection of the lake warden and shall enter in the warden's register his name and address and the number and kind of fish caught.

    (9)

    All fishing in the lake shall be from a boat or other designated areas and in no instance shall bank fishing, picnicking, cleaning or cooking fish in other than designated areas be permitted.

    (10)

    The fees for fishing privileges in the Graham-Mebane Lake shall be fixed from time to time by the city councils and kept on file in the offices of the city clerks.

    (11)

    No fishing or boating shall be allowed past the buoy line which is within 2,000 feet of the intake at the water plant.

    (12)

    No fish cleaning shall be allowed on the waters of the lake or any city property.

    (13)

    Creel limits shall be as posted at the lake marina.
