§ 24-72. Director.

(a)

The position of director of recreation and parks is created. The executive for the department shall be the director of recreation and parks for the city who shall also work with the manager as one of his department heads.

(b)

Candidates for the position as director of recreation and parks may be nominated to the city manager for his selection and employment, such person being in the opinion of the commission and manager fully trained and qualified to lead, organize, direct, administer and maintain a satisfactory recreation program for the unit.

(c)

An assistant director of the department of recreation and parks and/or such other persons as may be deemed necessary to the supervision, operation and maintenance of the system of parks, centers, play areas and other recreation facilities and areas, recreation programs and recreation services, may be employed and discharged by the director of recreation and parks in accordance with personnel policies of the city and with approval of the manager and the city council.
