§ 24-32. Membership; terms; vacancies.

(a)

The recreation and parks commission shall be composed of five members to be appointed by the city council as follows:

(1)

One member to be selected from the commissioners.

(2)

One member appointed from the personnel of the local school system.

(3)

Three members shall be chosen at large.

(b)

For the initial term, members of the recreation and parks commission shall serve staggered terms and thereafter members appointed shall serve for a term of three years and until their successors are appointed and qualify, except that the terms of those members who represent commissioners and the local school system shall automatically terminate at any time their affiliation with such units ends.

(c)

Vacancies in the recreation and parks commission shall be filled for the unexpired term by the commissioners. The members of the recreation and parks commission shall serve without compensation.
